Welcome to Jacó Beach Costa Rica
The town of Jacó Beach is the closest readily
accessible beach to San José due to the new highway opened in Februar
2010 and Jacó is certainly the liveliest and most developed beach town
on the Pacific coast. One attraction is the surf and surfers love the
consistent beach break here and the neighboring Playa Hermosa is blessed
with consistent year-round surf breaks. In August of 2009, the
International Surf Association held the WORLD MASTERS SURFING
CHAMPIONSHIP hosted by Billabong in Jacó as well as surrounding areas
like the popular surfing destination Playa Hermosa, which is located
five minutes south of the town of Jaco.
.
The active village of Jaco is full of life at all
hours of the day and night. There are souvenir shops, local clothing and
artisan shops, ice-cream stands, close to 100 restaurants and bars, four
casinos and several discotheques where you can dance until the morning
breaks. Because of Jacós closeness to the Central Valley, the 4 km long
straight stretch of Jacó Beach is frequented not only by tourist and
surfers from all over the world, it is also the most popular beach for
the young Costa Rican crowd. We recommend Jacó plainly for beach-life,
sunbathing, beach-games, beach-walks, beach horse-back rides or for
young families, on a small to medium budget and to surfers. Although you
will find many hotels in the Jaco area, from basic Cabinas to
breathtaking Hotels and Mansions.
Because of Jacó’s unique bio-diversity and overpowering coastal beauty
that is composed of brown, black and white sand beaches, which include
Costa Rica’s, top three commercial beaches. Jacó is surrounded with the
eco-amenities that all tourists come to the country for, such as two of
the largest ecological reserves being Manuel Antonio in the south and
the 15 miles north located Carrara National park, recognized for it´s
scarlet macaws, toucans and white faced monkeys. Other activities such
as canopy, aerial trams, ATV and horseback-riding, kayaking and scuba
diving are offered around the area and for all nature tours you have to
drive a little. You can enjoy some of the backlands if you take a
horseback-ride or a ATV-Tour up to the hills, that offer beautiful views
and lots of wildlife or at about 15 miles north of Jacó, lies the
popular Carara National Park.
Located in neighboring, 3 miles "far" Herradura is
the popular resort Los Sueños, which contains a 5 star Marriot hotel,
one of only 9 golf courses in the country and a top-notch and Costa
Rica's most exlusive marina. The addition of Los Sueños to the Jaco area
has aided tremendously in the growth of the area, creating many jobs for
locals as well as establishing the Jaco area as an elite destination
among tourists in the Central Pacific Region and made it the number one
spot for offshore-fishing, especially for sailfish, Marlin and Dorado.
